I'm staying up all night observing Messier 3, a globular cluster in the northern constellation of Canes Venatici. M3 is 32,600 light years away from us and contains perhaps 500,000 stars. Because it's one of the three brightest globular clusters in the northern sky, it has been intensely studied by amateur and professional astronomers.
It's a suitable choice for my first note.
I'm using my Explore Scientific AR127 on my CG-4 mount.
